UPSC

The UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) is one of the most prestigious exams in India. It is conducted to recruit candidates for top administrative positions like IAS (Indian Administrative Service), IPS (Indian Police Service), and IFS (Indian Foreign Service).

Exam Pattern

  1. Preliminary Examination:

    • Objective Type (Multiple Choice Questions).
    • Papers:
      • General Studies Paper-I (200 marks): Focuses on History, Geography, Polity, Economy, Environment, Science, and Current Affairs.
      • CSAT (General Studies Paper-II) (200 marks): Tests comprehension, logical reasoning, and decision-making.
    • Qualifying Nature: Only marks of GS Paper-I are counted for shortlisting; CSAT is qualifying (33% marks required).
  2. Mains Examination:

    • Descriptive papers, total 1750 marks.
    • Papers include:
      • Essay.
      • General Studies I-IV (Indian Heritage, Governance, Technology, etc.).
      • Optional Subject (Two Papers).
      • Language Papers (Qualifying).
  3. Personality Test:

    • 275 marks.
    • Tests communication skills, leadership, and decision-making.

Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification: Graduation from a recognized university.
  • Age Limit: 21–32 years (General), relaxations for reserved categories.

Uttar Pradesh Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Examination

UPPCS

The UPPCS is a state-level competitive exam conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). It recruits candidates for administrative and other significant posts in Uttar Pradesh.

Exam Pattern

  1. Preliminary Examination:

    • Objective Type.
    • Papers:
      • General Studies-I (150 marks): History, Geography, Economy, Environment, Science, and Current Affairs.
      • General Studies-II (CSAT) (100 marks): Reasoning, Mathematics, and Comprehension.
    • GS-II is qualifying in nature (33% required).
  2. Mains Examination:

    • Descriptive Type, total 1500 marks.
    • Papers include:
      • General Hindi (150 marks).
      • Essay (150 marks).
      • General Studies I-IV (200 marks each).
      • Optional Subject (2 Papers).
  3. Interview:

    • 100 marks.

Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification: Graduation from a recognized university.
  • Age Limit: 21–40 years (General), relaxations for reserved categories.

Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer

UPPSC RO/ARO

The RO/ARO exam is aimed at recruiting clerical and administrative officers in Uttar Pradesh government offices. It is considered a simpler exam compared to UPSC and UPPCS, with a focus on Hindi proficiency and clerical skills.

Exam Pattern

  1. Preliminary Examination:

    • Papers:
      • General Studies (140 marks): History, Polity, Geography, Current Affairs.
      • General Hindi (60 marks): Focus on grammar, vocabulary, and language skills.
  2. Mains Examination:

    • Descriptive Type.
    • Papers:
      • General Studies (120 marks).
      • Hindi Essay and Letter Writing (100 marks).
  3. No Interview Stage: Final selection based on Mains scores.

Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification: Graduation from a recognized university.
  • Age Limit: 21–40 years (General), relaxations for reserved categories.
